Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents named her Winona after her home town. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder thinks she's Jewish. The actress has a younger brother Uria and half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder and her family moved to Mendocino, California, when Ryder was seven. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder was an avid reader and spent her time reading books because she had no television. Ryder started to take acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. At the age of 15years old, Ryder was offered her first part on screen, in Lucas. Ryder endured bullying while in highschool. Her professional acting, she believed to help, could have helped her. Unfortunately that didn't come to be. But she pushed on with her dreams. In 1988 she had her breakthrough role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue her successful characters in numerous films. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one of which was for The Age of Innocence (1996).
